Changing a 4L60E?

I have a 01 1500 4x4 and I was wondering how it is to change the tranny.
If its not to bad i'll do it myself ...but if its a pain in the butt I will have someone else do it.
Please let me know and if any special tools are required?
Thanks

Use a tranny jack, trust me they are worth the cash.

I use a cheap motorcycle jack.It is wide enough for the tran to sit flat but a couple of blocks may be necessary to get the hight you need. drop the starter and inspection cover torque converter bolts unbolt the drive shaft. Then take all of the bolts out for the cross member jack up enough to push the cross member back drop the back of the trans down undo wire harness dipstick cooler lines and the four bolt to the bell housing the top two are very accessable at this point with a long extention. slide the trans back enough to disengage the torque converter. be sure not to let the converter fall off. drop the trans down you may or maynot want to bother draining first.

I always just make sure I have help when I'm doing transmissions. They can be a strain on the back.
