78 chevy need brake line help

I am restoring a 78 chevy K10 4x4 and I am stuck on the brake lines to the master cylinder. I ran all new brake lines and I matched the brake lines exactly from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve which were very neatly bent and coiled at the master cylinder and appeared to be factory. My question is there is a 3/16" and a 1/4" line attaching to the master cylinder and on my truck the 1/4" line was to the rear (closest to the firewall) which is the smaller of the two resivoirs on the master cylinder. In my haynes repair manual and on an 84 truck that I have it is the oppisite, the larger line connects to the front (larger) resivoir. I have viewed several pics online of various engine compartments in K series trucks and the majority of them seem to have the 1/4" line in the front however I have found some pics (particularly in about the 76 to 79 range) which the 1/4" line was to the rear although some of them did not appear to be factory bent tubing. Is this correct? Is there a difference in the master cylinders and/or does it really matter that much?
