steering issue

i am having a steering issue that has been plauging me for awhile. the steering out of the blue seems to want to have a hard spot, are like it wants to dart one way or the other. I have replace ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm, tie rods and even cv joints, this truck does have just over 200,000 miles. there is no power steering whine, new fluid, new lines. i am down to possible pump or gear box, but there are no other issues pointing to a pump, still turns stop to stop easily with no hesitation. it only does this when driving into a curve. any thoughts, thanks

This sounds just like a steering sensor problem. Chevy decided that making the steeriing a little more difficult at higher speeds would limit oversteer, and while this is a good idea on paper, becomes a problem if it fails. It will make steering tough, then loose, and it is simply a failed or failing steering sensor.

Where is this steering sensor located and what does it look like? Does my 95 cheyanne have one? This is the first I have heard of them. Thanks

i curse chevy out about every few months because of this problem. i've been thinking about using a resistor in place of the sensor. the sensor cost around $50 and i've replaced 3 of them on my truck alone.

The bearings in one of your front cv joints may have gone dry and that would cause your condition too.
