Wheel size? First off I'm new to the forum! I had a question about what I would need to do to fit 22's on a 83 SWB C10 with a 5/5 drop? I will be getting this truck from my father at the beginning of the year, and I'm making it a project truck. It is bone stock and I plan on putting the biggest drop they make on until I'm able to bag it one day. This will never be a daily driver by any means, just something for me and the ole lady to cruise in. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome and howdy from TEXAS. C notch the back that will include cutting out wheel wells so that it can lower then on the front end you will need to remove the wheel wells plus do a lot of other stuff im really not into that stuff wait for someone to help you more like slammer he's a cool cat.

Well yes you will need a c notch for the rear.. But you dont need to cut the wheel wells jsut yet in the back... They are big enought to clear my tires by afew inches and i have tires with a 29 inch diameter on there now... Your 22s with tires should only have a 26 inch diameter with 40 series tires on them... You could probely get away with 60 series in the back with out cutting anything.... For the front your best bet would be to take out the ac and all its componants and remove the inner fenders if you get rims that are wider then 8 inches.... Im pretty sure the standard for 22s in 10 inches so yeah you will have to do some work up front but nothing serious... If you wanna keep the ac then you will have to get an underdash kit from a company that makes them for hot rods/roasters.... I personally could care less about ac so i wont be doing that but you do have plenty of room under the dash once you get all the air ducts out..... I have been seeing a steady rise in the modification of these trucks... When i got mine in feb i couldnt find much as far as air ride goes but in the last few month the have been poping up everywhere and now a few companies make complete air ride kits for them.... I got mine from ridetech.com it is a complete bolt up kit.. Witch woks for me cause i dont have a welder that could handle frame work... But there are a few better kits that must be welded on and privide alot more suspension... I just wanted tolay the doors on 22s so that is why i went with the kit i did... But if your gonna be driving it alot i would go with a better company for there quality and work...

Thanks b7c10slammer. The c-notch isn't necessary just to lower it is it? I know once I put bags on it I will have to c-notch it, but the lowering kits i've been looking at don't require it. If you don't mind, how much money in just material do you have in your air system? Im not looking to break the bank on a system. Thanks for all your help.

Around 5600 but thats the 4 link, bags, c notch, compressors, fitting, valves, the hole 9... A 5 inch drop i gonna make the axle really close to the frame... With my springs completly gone i only got 9 inches total drop in the back... What are you gonna do a flip kit and blocks or new springs?

Well I thought about the flip kit. I looked up the site you listed and I found a kit that looked complete for $3700. I figured that wasn't too bad if its a complete system.

yeah it was probley the regular kit from ride tech.... i think i have the same kit but got some stuff added to it like bigger valves and air lines, shorter control arms so i can drive with it lowered and i think i got the better bags.. ones that raise 14 inches.... i still wanna have a good ride hight so that is why i went for them plus its a big heavy truck and they are stronger bags...
