You need a scan with a good scanner not a code reader, Are you in upstate as in western or up the northway?
Central NY. In the Utica/Rome area. I know I need a scanner, the problem is that I do not have one.
For my 93 Eclipse I hook the obd port to a data cable and run it into my laptop to tune it. Is there any similar data cable or interface for these trucks?

a tps will cause a high idle. this can be checked by checking voltage across it. it should be more than .2 volts and less than .4, i believe. a tps is not going to cause a sporatic idle. find someone with a good code reader, not autozone, that will read stored codes and see what turns up.

Used the backyard method with jumpin pins A and B. Threw a slew of codes but this was after screwing around under the hood. So I reset the ECU and I'll check for new codes this evening.

I would think that depends on the software you are using. I know mud has been using one for obd2

And it wasn't the MAP sensor.... Any other ideas? I'm ready to do a compression test and see if the HG is shot.

time to get a good diagnostic scan, it may prove cheaper and easier in the long run

Im pulling the codes backyard style, and counting the flashes of the CEL as per the Haynes manual. I reset the ECU after I put the MAP sensor in, so I'ma drive it and see what it throws.
