Hood hinge

I have a 78 k25 truck. The spring on the hood hinge must be getting weak because the back of the hood when i close it does not pull down all the way. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and could tell me a good place to get replacement. The hinge has a spring on it not the coil spring

Welcome to the forum
did you try lubing it real good and raise and lower the hood as you do? It may be rust and dirt

Very good point. These chevy trucks have a nasty habit of folding the hoods right in half. So much that the aftermarket has created braces to help prevent this. That "clock" style spring is pretty tough, and is probably not bad.
My vote is for poorly lubricated hinges too.

Thanks for fast reply. No I haven't even thought of oiling it up. About the hood folding in half, that is the problem i'm getting also. When i close it the one edge of the hood wants to crease. It's not that bad but if i let it go it could become a problem. Thanks again i'll spray some pb blaster on the hinge and see if it helps

Work it in slowly move the hood maybe about a foot then slowly increase travel. Remember you will be soaking it to the point of runoff and flushing the pivot points, so put a towel or something under the hinge so it doesn't drip on the garage floor
