please do not use wd-40 it will rust the piston walls then you will have to take the motor apart and hone the walls so the rings can set. but like i said with tranny fluid. you only use a little and it will lube all the rings and walls and after start up it will smoke just for about 30 sec. and done. sence you need to change the oil after you get it broke in.

Is the motor still crated with the moisture preventer? Oem's are assembled with spindle oil, rings, bores, cranks etc., cams and lifters with moly lube. Avoid such things as wd-40 as i find them to contain water! 10w motoroil will do what you want in the bores. I would fill the crankcase, pull the distributer and turn the oil pump with a drill to circulate the oil and refill the lifters, I would even consider doing it let it stand and do it again BEFORE turning the engine over at all (even by hand)
