97 Chevy tailgate handles

Are there more than one manufacturer that builds replacement tailgate handles for 97 chevy pickups. I break about 3 per year and I'm sick of it. I've been getting the replacements from O'reilly's Auto Parts and NAPA; they're the only two part stores in my area. Can someone please tell me if there is a better brand of tailgate handle available. Thanks.

I believe a company called LMC sells replacement GM parts. I justed picked up a replacement outside dirver door handle for my 2000 model obs pickup.

Guest I have to take inside door panel off to replace the new door handle. First one I have ever had to replace, 83K miles.

Wow I've never broken one! maybe you are pulling on the handle before it's actually unlatched? maybe the latches need some lube on them? just some thoughts

It's always the same thing, the riviet that holds the moving parts of the handle together always breaks.

The original one from the dealership broke, and they cost more.

hears a little tip about tailgates when you go to open it push on the tailgate first then pull on the handle. it takes the stress off the pins and it will let you pull the handle a hole lot easier and will last a life time doing it that way.
