remember this post brad????

co-worker has an 86 chevy he said he would sell to me for $200. it has a 305 with the 4spd and granny gear. thinking of buying it and turning it in to a mud or plow truck. the solid axle would be too stiff for a daily driver, but it could be a nice project truck.

i had enough time to pull the heads, pan and accessories off the engine today. as i was pulling the heads, i noticed the bolts didn't look like the felpro ones i got from autozone. the counter guy gave me ones for the wrong year, now i have to return them before class tonight. it's amazing how much lighter these aluminum heads are compared to the old iron ones i'm used to. last thing to do is remove the crank pulley, timing chain cover, oil pump and cam, then it's on to cleaning and assembly.

on to todays pics, took a pic of the steam coming off my hand to show all you southerners how cold it is up here. almost forgot, excuse the pics, they were from the cell phone since the camera batteries never seem to keep a charge.

updates will be slowing down for a bit after this, school starts back up tonight, so any work will most likely be done on the weekends at work.

yeah, for almost 100,000 the cross hatch pattern looks like it was made yesterday.

Umm...... never say never.....

Some manuals do use a torque converter.

Semi-automatic transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

torque converter

So, how about that supercharger?

I was thinking if he went with a high cam he will need one if going with auto trans but I just read that he's going with manuel trans so ones not needed. I bet it's going to sound good shifting gears.

almost forgot, don't buy parts at autozone, they can't even put the right part number in their computer system. twice i've got the wrong head bolts.
