Hey Guys, new to the forum and need a little help. I've got a 2001 Silverado with a chewed-up spyder gear. I had intentions of swapping out the whole rearend, but the one I purchased turned out to be in worse shape than mine. Having trouble getting the thrust block rotated inside the carrier to remove it. I got the lock bolt and pin removed, but there are 2 spring loaded pin/teeth assemblies on the back side that won't let the block rotate to the front. Whats the trick for this? I'm gonna try a thin piece of sheetmtal between the block and the pins tomorrow to keep them from engaging the block...hopefully Thanks, Jamie

if we're talking about the same thing, there was a member that just did this about a week or two ago. he was trying to change out his axle seals. do a search for axle seals on here and see what you come up with. maybe someone else will remember where that thread was too.

Thanks Mudseeker I did search the forum originally before I posted, but not under axle seals. I figured it out today...the thrust block has a hole in each side that allows the axles to be pushed in (if its not missaligned) and remove the c-clips. I was so intent on removing the block i overlooked the recess for the axles. The rest was piece of cake. Just gotta order the pass side axle drive gear tomorrow as the rest of the insides look good. Thank you for the reply Jamie

I have heard that those rear-ends are worthless when using them with a LS engine that's a little souped up. They call them GRENADES because they blow up like one.
