factory alarm/security woes 2000 1 ton

just bought this truck. got no remote and just discovered it has factory alarm or security sys.

my question is 1) is it armed/disarmed only w/ remote, pwr locks, or key in door?

2) what all is part of sys? i see there is interlock on shift linkage (which is unhooked) but what else is involved?

3) are remotes easy to reprog (done that w/ other cars)?

4) can alarm be 'turned off' (and left off) if you will?
