electric wiring diagram for the dash and/ or engine.

installed "new" engine, gets spark, gets gas, cranks over, but doesn't start. changed the distributor already.

i noticed that two of the wires near the starter may be touching, so it may be creating a short circuit. i hope that this may be the problem.

edit" tried a search of the forum, but could not find anything.

if it has gas and spark, the only thing left is timing. Are you sure the dizzy is set right?

leolkfrm, thanks for your reply.

yeah, the dizzy is in right.

the black wire on the ignition switch is burnt. would this have something to do with the problem. specifically, i am looking for a wiring diagram for the dash/ ignition switch (where the black wire goes). the switch is the in-dash model.

silverhairdeere, thanks for the diagrams.

Tomorrow, I will try using the schematics.

One more question, if someone knows... can you please tell me where the black wire from the in-dash ignition switch (big ring at end of the switch) goes? The whole wire is crispy fried - would this cause my vehicle not to start?
