additives are not always a good idea as the tend to block what you don't want plugged. did you ever pressurize it?

Remember to buy new head bolts and like Brad said sometimes a stop leak will work or clog up you radiator. A buddy of mine had just run out of warranty well he had no anti freeze in the engine and with the cold weather his block cracked he used a stop leak and the car ran forever till he sold it but it was still running good.

If you are going to pull the heads, plan for the expense of having them gone thru, 300,000 is a lot of miles to just do a r&r. it is also poss that there is a crack in one!
don't want to be negative but it is always better to plan for the worse.

Elk Camp is on a distinguished road
Guys, I'm loosing about a half gallon coolant (now water) every month for a couple years now. I had it tested once, smoke test, pressure, they couldn't find the leak.
Its a 02 Yukon, 75k miles. From all I've been reading, seems like I have bad intake gasket. My question is, what is the consequences if i do nothing? A friend seems to think the water is "burning off" or turning into steam and exiting somewhere (exhaust?) My temp is stable, oil pressure strong, dip stick shows no water.....?

i'm out, ive got nothing, if you cant see the leak with anything than it has to be internal. If there is nothing in the oil then that would eliminate intake gaskets because it would creep down the lifter valley and into the pan, the newer motors im pretty sure have a valley cover that would prevent this anyway so the coolant should just run down the back of the block, water pump would be visible, only thing left is radiator or its burning it plain and simple. I dont think there is a whole lot of science here. no mysteries, i think we all want to offer possitive feed back but man, i seriously think it is in your heads, no pun intended but there just isnt anywhere else this stuff can be going.
