How much water are you losing? In other words how much water does it take to refill the system to the normal level. Every day or every couple of days?
Assuming the loss is slight and from what you have said the intake gasket would get my vote.

Do you have a harbour freight around you? For about $10 bucks you can buy a checker for the cooling system, check it cold

what motor does this have? 5.3

stuff on your oil filler plug is just residue from condesation within the engine block every dodge i have seen does it and my bb has a little, what oil are you using, castrol? mobil? these two brands are bad about this **** and i dont know why... i havent ever heard anything about intake gaskets on the newer vortecs... have you checked all your hose ends, clamps, radiator cap, not trying to make you feel stupid, just want to help... the engine does have a dry intake if its a v8 and has a 5.3 or something in the new family of vortecs

There were some heads known to weep loss.
Not suggesting this is it, but just so you're aware.
Don't think it was a recall but here's info:

OK everyone seems clear that your engine has a dry intake so that is ruled out. However I have a problem with the head gasket.
If the water from the tailpipe is from the cooling system then the only way it could get to the exhaust pipe is by leaking past the head gasket and into a cylinder. If it is doing that then surely compression can leak the other way. It would be overheating and pumping water out of the overflow.
So where is the water going? A quart every 2 days.
