305 project

hey, lookin for advice on building a 305 for my '81 shorty 2wd. just got it, complete and running. figured since it's out, might as well create a modest mouse. anyone got anything to say about a stroker kit for this engine? suggested performance parts? i want it to be a strong driver that won't be a yearly build, but i'm not afraid of doin a little work to make it respectable. right now it's stock with a q-jet and bleeding valve covers. thanks for your time.

Welcome to the site;

Probably not gonna find too many fans of the wee-o-five. Ditch that little thing and build a 350 or something with some cubes.
Machine work for this small engine and a larger engine is exactly the same.
Start with a decent engine and make it better. You are spinning your wheels (pun intended) by spending time or money on the 305.

^^^75 is right if you have the funds and want great results....However if the funds are limited, pull the oem cam out of it, put a decent one in and the the diff will be satisfactory
