| Looking for new taillights... I'm getting tired of replacing bulbs. I've replaced 3 circuit boards before I found the shorted out wiring. And I've replaced god knows how many Sylvania LONG LIFE bulbs. Long life I doubt it! I haven't even owned the truck for 8 months and gone through 3 packs of bulbs! I just had one burn out on me coming home from work. I'm thinking about buying those LED taillights. But, would the LEDs burnout if I'm having problems with bulbs burning out? There's got to be a reason for them going out like this. I just don't want to spend over $100 and then the taillights are junk. These are the ones I would thinking about getting.... eBay Motors: 88-98 CHEVY GMC CK FULL SIZE TRUCK LED TAILLIGHT BLACK (item 300285342780 end time Mar-07-09 16:27:41 PST) They might look good with my new line x liner and dark blue truck. I think the chrome version would stick out too much. eBay Motors: 88-98 CHEVY C/K CK 1500/2500/3500 TRUCK LED TAIL LIGHTS (item 310126906067 end time Mar-09-09 23:30:49 PDT) What do you guys think? Its too dark to investigate the taillight right now. I'm sick of dealing with it. -Mike

| Might want to check alt isn't putting out a very high voltage, seems odd. Maybe cold is a factor, how's the weather been for low temps. LEDs would have less of a problem I'd think. |

| Yeah I checked it out and the bulb was broken. I'm thinking the taillight was loose. The right one has only one screw holding it since it has a broken bracket. Good reason to upgrade I think. Oh and yeah LMC is way high for those lights. The thing is even at the price on ebay they're still making a killing for those. I think the smoked black would look cool on the truck.

| I like the smoke ones the chrome ones look ugly. When replacing the bulbs are you using rubber gloves because the grease on your hands can cause a hot spot? How about buying the circuit boards at the dealership that way you know it's a good GM product. My 1990 GMC and 1991 GMC truck would do the same thing well thinking about it my 93 GMC that I have now did it when I first bought it make sure that you buy that grease that one can apply in the socket I would first try the grease first I forgot the name of it but someone will chime in with the correct name. Or buy the circuit board at Napa or O'Reillys don't buy cheap parts from Auto Zone. Good luck! GMC PS-Think about it if you buy these LED lights and it keeps happening your going to be spending a lot of money replacing bulbs check for a bad connection first as well. |

| Well the circuit boards kept going out b/c I had a short in my trailor harness. And I didn't put gloves on when replacing the bulbs. I thought you only needed to do that for headlights with the hallogen inside. If it happens again I will try that. Thanks for the tip.
