Since this HD 1/2 ton has the 14 bolt rear, is the front diff a heavier unit also or just a run of the mill 1/2 ton unit? Sorry, I'm used to dealing with Dana 60's and 44's.

I don't know but around here they didn't push 1/2 ton HD's much at the dealerships.

should be a tag on the unit. you can also identify it using the rpo codes or the data sticker under the hood. might also crawl under there and snap a pic of it. some of us here, not i, can identify them just by looking at them.

should be heavier because of the increase in gvw, but as brad says an rpo code or tag # woud verify it
