| Hey gang,I've got my dually running good(new gas tank, pump, and distributor) I went to flush the engine out to put in fresh antifreeze...anyway the upper radiator hose wouldn't warm up.......the pump is working....does that sound like a bad thermosthat that's not opening up to let the coolant out of the engine? Also , I was going to install a flushing T (prestone brand).......the heater hoses from the firewall go to the top of the engine and the other goes to the radiator(not the water pump-as stated on the flush kit).....the hose to the engine is the inlet,,,right ? Thanks for your insight...Quad |

| Sounds like air bubbles, did you bleed the system? |

| ^^ I agree it sounds like air, how long did you let it warm up? is there a bleed screw on the top of the t-stat housing?

| I thought if there's air in the cooling system, the engine will OVERheat, not UNDERheat...... until it's bled or circulates for awhile. I changed the stat on my Trans Am recently (from a 195 to a 160). I lost a lot of fluid in the process. When I started it up for the first time after the change and fluid refill, it warmed up to about 230 before I shut it off. Stock temperature stays around 205 -210. It continued to do so until I bled the system. I simply opened a line right underneath the I/M with engine running. That cured it. To me, it sounds like your stat is stuck OPEN.

| if there is air in the system, it might overheat, it might not. all depends on the mix and how low it really is. pop the radiator cap off and watch the flow like stated above and fill if necessary. |
