friend of mine has a '94 chevy 5 speed with a 305. He had true duals with two 40 series, and kind of had the same desire you do. MORE SOUND. well its not legal by any means.. but he now has straight pipes. He took the flows off more as a joke.. then said what that heck.. just leave them off. The sound is not the same as what a flow would give you (low and deep). but lets just say when he jumps on it...hold your ears.

i have a 40 series on my dakota. it sounded cool at first, but it just seemed way too quiet. i went to the muffler shop to ask about cats...the OWNER told me...there are other ways of doing it which i can't perform myself...but i'll sell you this piece of pipe and you can figure it out yourself. so the converter came off w/ a sawzall, and i welded up the piece of pipe. not the most legal thing to do, but it sounds really good...besides, my duramax didn't come with a cat!

I had a 95' Tahoe 2dr with the 350. What you can do is "hollow" your cat. 2 warnings: If your truck requires a "sniffer" test for emissions you might fail. 2nd My Friend told me cat's have asbestos in them so if you do this wear a respirator or dust mask while hollowing cat. Now with that said If you still have stock Ypipe you should have a flange behind converter. Just unbolt the flange and use some type of tool with a sharp edge . I used a crow bar. when you look in your cay you will see the "honeycomb" in it. Use the crowbar to bust the comb up as it bust you will need to periodically get in your truck and crank it and rev the engine to help blow this out. just keep chipping away until it is all gone. You must get all of it and if you live in a neighborhood I would suggest you go somewhere remote to do this as it makesa lot od dust and noise. BTW my tahoe had a single chamber flowmaster that was already loud but after this You defenitely heard that thing coming. Good luck , Jeff G.
