I didnt miss it. Even in bad traffic you can drive conservatively.

Yeah, I'm going to try the acetone thing just as a test. I'm sure that it will not hurt to try it once. Anyway, I am a conservative driver. I just looked and I got 335 miles out of 22 gallons of gas. That is about 15.2 MPG.

I guess that is good considering the location and roads that I drive on. I try my best to only go about 5 over the speed limit on the highway and take routes that are less congested. I may have to put a few more miles on the trip that way but I would rather go 40 miles going 60 mph then go 25 miles going 40mph in stop and go traffic.

I will post my findings on the acetone thing. I have seen results all around the internet showing improvement and also showing a decrease in MPG.

GMC, You ought to be ashamed for spankin the Fords, there is not even close competion there. Eveyone knows a 5.3 will spank the living dog snot out of a 5.4. Now if you both are towing something, it does get a little bit more fair and equal. Fords have Torque, but no horsepower.

No kidding, tell an acquaintance that you don't like so much about this new great technology, and let them try it first. I am sure he will provide you with feedback.

Just a quick update if you are wondering, I have come to the conclusion that the acetone trial was a failure. I'm actually getting worse gas mileage then before so I will stick with good ole' 87 octane at the pump. Thank you all for your feedback and concerns. Have a great day!!

Thanks for letting us know Jto. I'll call mythbusters and let them know too. Hopefully you did not do any harm to your motor in the process of the experiment.

That Acetone thing is a new one on me too. I know on some newer vehicles certian addatives will mess with your o2 and A/F sensor readings but not sure about acetone. That is interesting, let me know how that works if you decide to try it!
