Best polish for wheels

I have a 1994 Z-71 with the factory Aluminum wheels, they still look good except a few places look etched. Is there any way to polish this out? And are these wheels clear coated?

The only way to polish blemishes out is to remove the factory clearcoat, if they are not to bad it's not worth messing with. you have to use an acid wash to remove the clear, then polish and keep them polished

if you are looking for a good acid, aluminum brite works great. comes in gallon jugs for about 12 bucks at any truck parts place. be sure to use good gloves (not the wifes dish gloves) to apply unless you are like me and have become immune to it over the years. do not leave it on there as it will start eating aluminum and cause it to streak extremely bad. again, use chemical gloves in a well ventilated area. stuff burns my nostrils.

after using the alum. bright since its about the best thing out there, just watch how strong you mix it if you mix it at all. for keeping them shiny some good stuff is flitz metal polish.

If you use acid the peel the rest of the film make sure that you rinse the wheels super good before you drive the truck or it will mess up your paint job.

yes i have used alumi-brite myself and it works great i picked a gallon up from the local napa store for about 12-15 bucks, the last time i went in there they had a different name brand but it was the same stuff. alot of rigs use it to clean stuff, thats what they said anyway. you can dilute it with water or use full stength but be careful it will feel like it singes your nose hairs
