| New Member, maybe a new truck Hello everyone. I have been reading some of the posts and decided to ask for others opinions. I have been looking at buying a 1994 2500 4x4 Cheyenne. The seller keeps stating that it is a Heavy Duty? Did Chevy make two versions of the 3/4 ton truck? I didnt think the 2500HD came along until sometime around 2000. This truck has 300k on the truck, but the motor and trans were replaced with new ones a couple of years ago. Both have less than 30k. Mechanically the truck is very sound. The body is in decent shape, the inside is in need of some help. (door panel, vinyl seat tears, etc) Are there any model specific problems with the 94 2500 4x4 w/5.7 that I should look out for? I have found a lot of positive things listed about these trucks, but I havent found any widespread problems. I mainly want this truck to turn into a hunting and camping rig. I want to carry a slide in camper with it. Thanks in advance for any input. |

| Do you know what the differences are between the 2500 and the 2500hd. Is it just heavier springs/cargo capacity? |

My 98 has the HD package, i believe it is just one ton torsion bars, heavy duty shocks, or one ton coils if its 2wd. and probly the full float 14T 10.5" rear axle instead of the semi-float 9.5".

We are currently negotiating between $3k and $3500. Would there be way to find information about the age of the engine from the block number? He claims the engine was a crate motor, purchased through one of the larger Chevy dealerships in town.

| If it was a factory replacement engine it should have a "goodwrench" decal on one of the valve covers, otherwise you might have to pull numbers off the heads or block, and I`m not to sure were they are located...... |
