1993 Chevy 1500k fuel problem

Have the following problem on my 93 Chevy 1500. I have noticed in the last 3-4 months the fuel consumption has increased alot. I normally had about 400-450 km per 100 to 110 ltrs of fuel. I seem to be getting 280-300 km as of late. I know winter has something to do with it a little bit but almost 150 km less. I had the tranny replaced last summer and had o2 ,knock, pcv sensors changed. Has plugs and wires and cap and rotor from last yr as well. it seems to me that this changed when I changed the tranny. Any other sensors that could be cause a fuel consumtion as besides that it runs great. Thanks

If it happened with the tranny change, has it been checked to make sure it is in full locked up over drive?

How do you check to see if it is in full locked up overdrive? I installed a different cluster with a tachometer to see that and it idles at about 600 rpm and when I'm driving at about 100km an hr in OD it's around 2100 rpm. When It's in drive it's around 2500 rpm at 100km an hour. So does that sound like it working correct? Is it better to keep driving in drive and switch to OD when I hit like 80km per hr, or is ok to drive in OD all the time? I was told to change the MAP sensor what would this do?

So you are getting about 90 miles less on a fill. You would notice that.
From your figures and description your transmission is definately going into overdrive. However Leo`s point was is the torque converter locking up to provide those extra miles per gallon.
Try this, while in OD hold the truck at a steady 60mph (100k/hr) then with your left foot press the brake pedal down very little. When you do this look at the rev counter (tach) and see if the engine revs increase or stay the same. If they stay the same you do not have TC lockup.

Well I tryed what Case said and yes it did go up a little bit couple hundred rpm. How much should it have gone up does this sound like enough? So if it did not change at all would this would be bad? If so how could this be fixed? How do you fix or get TC lock up?

Good man. It sounds like your transmission is fine. You will have to look elsewhere for apparent decrease in milage.
Are you confident that you are getting the tank filled with the same amount of gas as before?
If so then maybe you have a bad oxygen sensor (codes would tell this) or maybe your fuel pressure is too high.
Maybe one or more of your brakes is dragging.

Case,
It doesn't drive any different than before I did the tranny also I had the same bigger tires like I do now. I'm not sure what kinda milage these truck are suppose to be getting. Yes I still putting in approx 100-115 litres of fuel at each fill up.

The only thing else is that with the bigger tires the speedo and milage would be off a bit not sure how much. Will have to see if the warmer weather improves it back to where it was.
