Another vote for the Detroit, however, this vote comes with some stipulations. This stipulation is on the form of the axle you intend to use. I would not be installing this locking device in an axle that has "c" clips. 1/2 ton drivetrain might not be the best option. (this may not even pertain to this vehicle) The full float 14B is as strong as nails, and is probably the only axle I would consider the locker in. See, if the locker engages on the street it can place quite a bit of strain on the axles, and small axles will pop under the load, especially if a trailer is being pulled. The locker wont be the problem, the axle shaft will. spending money on a small axle might bring an early end to the axle, and this miht not be money better spent,.

i put a lock rite in mine, i use it as a daily driver/work truck/play toy, i pull trailers most of the week, plow snow in the winter, and go off roading at every chance. i chose it because it is what my cousin has in his trail rig, he has had the same one in for 10 years with no problem. any just my input.

Lock Right does not matter on the gears since they go into an open carrier. It appears it would $271 to $321 depending on which Dana 44 you have at Rocky Road Outfitters. They are the least expensive I have found for these units. Lockright (Lock Right) lockers, Powertrax, best prices, lowest cost locker kits
