| Topic is trannies. Result is confused. Hey guys and gals. Noob here. Just crossed over from Jeeps and this Chev I bought is all new to me. It's a mall crawler (2wd) and way too purdy for me, but hey, it is what it is. My back survives a trip across town now and I kinda like that. So I've read and read untill all I've succeeded in doing is confusing myself. I hiy up Novaks sight where I got some great info on the 700r to 4L60 to early 4L60E to late 4L60E I understand that some of the 93 builds still ended up with the 4L60/700r and most had the E version. Mine only has 2 cables coming off the throttle body. Gas and controller. I seen a couple that had 3. So I assume I have the early 4L60E and the others with 3 are the 4L60 and the kickdown was not controlled by the TCM. My tranny is weak and giving me the 1-2 hard shift. So I'm looking to do a plug and play swap and need to know what years of Chev's I can swipe one from. Also want to swap out the 305 for a 350. Same deal, plug and play. I have access to a 95 2wd Burban with a 350 but I read that 95 was a 1 year only kinda mess. Thanks for any help folks.

| If your gonna swap motor and tranny, then go and find a good donor, and get all the stuff, wiring harness, ecm, tranny, do it complete. Or, go find a wrecked 2000 and up truck with a 5.3 or 6.0 and auto trans, and contact painless wiring, and they'll set you up with a complete harness that is just plug and play.............. OR, if you don't have alot of money(like most of us dreamers here) you shoud be able to find a similar year vehicle and pull motor, tranny, and whatever other controllers that you need, for fairly cheap. |

| Donor vehicle is the route I'll be taking. Can anyone point me to a good write up on the process? Mainly being years of the easiest donor to work with and engine management. I have read that the 305 to 350 swap includes having to get the proper puter or chip to allow for proper air/fuel.

| Yes, it is the same truck. But I do plan on being happy with the truck one day.

| A fella dropped off a tranny out of a 93 burban yesterday for me. Free is a great price. So it was there when I got home from work and is now in my truck. No more trannie issues. I did however, snap off both mount bolts in the donor tranny. Then proceeded to snap off an easyout in 1 hole and a tap in the other. I knew things were going way to smoothly. Pulled the tail stock to see if you could drill straight through and just drop a nut and bolt in there, but that was out of the question. So after kickin shyte around the yard and breaking about 30 small bits, I ended up tapping them out with a nc 16x20 metric just because everything was closed and I happen to have those size bolts. It was a late night and I feel like I went through a baling machine, but it's done. ![]()

| That's great. You got around it and made it happen. Your foot OK? ..... from kicking stuff around the backyard of course.

| Not as bad as I thought it might feel. Those 200 plus piece socket sets dont move far with a good kick but theyre a pain in the *** to clean up.
