exhaust question

would converting my 93 5.7 with 4L60E from single to dual exhaust increase MPG any in town or highway, how about removing cat and leaving stock single exhaust setup? thanks. How about leaving stock 2 into 1pipe into cat but gutting cat to improve flow and hopefully gas mileage....no emissions here and is farm truck.

If you live below 3k RPMs most of the time then you will see exactly squat from exhaust mods. If you pull the cat or move it then you've got an off road only vehicle. (legally speaking) If your stock manifolds are cast iron then you will save weight, and therefore fuel, by changing to shorties that preserve the stock cat location.

Magnaflows or cheery bombs will make your truck sound faster though.

remove your cat without 02 simulators or tuning them out will result in lower MPG. same thing with gutting it. dont think you are going to be any money ahead by doing this with the gas you will be saving. headers will improve the engine performance a tad, though.
