| Ah... very helpful. Thank you. It is looking like Monday (After the Parade) will be the first opportunity I have to go work on the White Whale. So far, only slight possibility of rain. ...having to work on gravel grass and dirt (And ticks) under the open sky does have it's drawbacks. Oh yeah, there is a garage/shop in the photos of the whale, but that is my friends place, AND there is no room in it for a vehicle... IE: it is filled to the doors with a multitude of projects in various stages of completion. (Can anybody relate?)

| Opposite side of speedo gear that is on the driver side. The governor is on the passenger side toward the rear of the trans. It will have a square plate over it with 4 bolts. I believe all you need to get it out is a 1/2 inch wrench or 1/2 socket and ratchet.

| Dayum Stitz, and I thought I had a deep pan on mine. You can go for or a swim in that one. At least take a bath. Whats up with the cooling line? Whats is made of that you got away from the steel lines?

| Oh yeah, it a deep classic. (about 13 quarts for the system.) Ah... I see now, the angle in that photo... the 3/16 fuel line I'm using as a vacuum tube perfectly covers steel trans. fl. lines going into my radiator... (where we will be adding a cooler to help with my travel trailer towing plans. Although that is just a 'sometime during this summer' plan) I received my Govenor assy. (and gasket) yesterday but won't have opportunity to swap out until this weekend... (dang) hopefully Saturday. Of course I will do a photo documentary of it as well... fingers crossed that it will resolve the strange shifting symptoms. (I have high hopes.)

| update: I actually had time to perform the operation last evening. The old governor looked fine, the gear was in great shape, but to test the function of the valve body I put the new one in... (photos to come) Test drive reveals the same symptoms. (DANG!) Data recap; It does stay in 2nd. if I drive around 30 mph steady. and [with new governor seems] it stayed in 3rd. a lot better at 55 mph. ..but once I let up on the gas, then go to reapply it, trans drops into 2nd.! Then if I floor it, it revs up and smoothly shifts int 3rd. again. Now it's time to try and disconnect that kick down as 75K30 suggested... AND then I will siphon out some trans fluid the the fill tube and put in some Lucas... like Hotrod suggestedd about 10 posts ago. Any other ideas? And as always, Thank you.

| governor photos As promised, here are photos of the governor... (make your own joke) Since I am in North carolina, my joke will be, "This task is done EASLEY." (sigh) Note: I submerged the new gov. in ATF (for about 20 min.) before installing

| Cool, so did it make a differance? What type of vehicle is this agian? That long tail usually goes into a large car with a slip yoke.
