| S-10 stalling problem I have a 1998 Chev. S-10 that has a baffling problem. 99 out of 100 times it starts & runs great, but every so often, it will turn over, almost start, but then die. No problem, I think to myself, I just didn't quite leave the starter engaged long enough. I will then try starting it again, & it just cranks & cranks. Doesn't even get close to starting. If I let it sit for about a half-hour, boom -- fires right up like nothing happened. This has happened about 3 or 4 times, & it never happens as long as I keep the starter engaged for the proper time. Trouble is, I get in a rush, & get lax about the process, and I'm stuck again. Any thoughts? |

| Next time it happens be ready to test for spark, fuel pressure, and injector pulse. Spark: Buy a cheap spark test tool for $5 put it inline with the #1 plug or any plug that is easy to reach. Fuel Pressure: Tape a mechanical gauge to the windshield and connect it to the valve on the fuel line near the intake. Injector pulse: Noid light on the injector harness. Figure out which of these you're missing and we'll go from there. |
