Man, I am jealous. I did not realize that was 3/4 ton too. I assumed 1/2 ton. I prefer the 3/4 but as bad as I want a 4x4, I am willing to take a 1/2 since I know they are much more common. I am finally driving my $100 454 truck that I built the Turbo 400. That truck runs good. Still needs some upper bushings and alignment work. Still ugly, but it does run good. I'd drive it just about anywhere. Next project is to put a belt on the AC compressor and see if that AC will work and if not, what is will take to get it working. Spoiled and to used to AC not to have it, and this truck has it all there except the belt. Its not seized, so i am hoping it works. I am failty certain it will need freon. I have a feeling when they did the motor rebuild they let the freon go and not replaced it.

did a car fax and the truck started life as a 1984 1/2 ton 6.2 diesel from florida. cam up here in 2000 and became a mud truck sometime soon after i would guess.

Great, so that would explain why the little rust. There are some advantages to being previous diesel. Like biggo radiator, hydroboost brakes instead of vacuum. I am going to be looking for a hydroboost later on. I have one, but it leaks. Rebuit units cost a bunch. But one of my half tons that I intend to put an Olds 455 with a biggo cam in it, will not have vacuum for power brakes. Gonna sugger the power steer pump loss and keep power steering and brakes. Likely to run underrun pulleys on it if it will work. That project is far off due to funds. Have the truck, motor, heads, rear end and trans though.

funny you mention the olds 455. mon afternoon, i saw an extremely clean olds 442 at the local tire store. wondered if he would trade me for the dodge but quickly ended when the wife said, "HECK NO!!! You are NOT getting another vehicle!!"

the big ol radiator is for sale, they used coat hanger to mount it and someone already put a vacuum booster on it.

the frame and paint might look good, but this thing has been hacked up.
i need to replace both the spring hangers in the front to get the new springs to sit right.

going to pick up some wheels for this thing next week while i'm up north on vacation. now i have to find a place to store it and get building on the engine, i'm itching to start building some horse power.

the plans for the engine were going to be mild, but i plan to put forged internals in and am still deciding if i want to bore and stroke it. the problem is, i won't want to wait on the rest of the drivetrain and will probably stuff the 5.3 in stumpy for the time being. VROOM VROOM

the whee-oh-five is still kicking strong, just thought i would give stumpy an upgrade while i'm working on the other truck. no sense letting a brand new engine rot in a corner of the garage, right?
