97 suburban shifting problem Hello, I have a 97 suburban 1/2 ton 4x4 that is not shifting....it all worked properly then all of a sudden i pulled away from a stop light and realized it just didnt have the normal get up and go that it does. Upon realizing that it was starting out in 3rd i can manually shift it into 2nd but if i put the selector in 1st it just stays in second.....it will not go into over drive either... -performed flawless until this problem/ never any odd shifts or slippage -stays in what ever gear the selector is in -will not shift into first or overdrive -speedo is working correctly -fluid is clean and does not smell burnt -check engine light is on *multiple codes pulled all show low or no voltage to solenoid A, solenoid B, torque converter...etc i can the specific codes if that would help? is there a single line that i can check for voltage coming to my tranny? or some other possibilities? thanks

i was doing a little trouble shooting this morning and had the battery disco'd while checking connections/wires so it cleared the codes... i had my wife drive it to the store and the light came on right away, after she got back i drove it down to auto zone to have the codes pulled and the only two it pulled was PO306-MISFIRE IN CYLINDER #2(this is a new one/ always purred until i started it this morning and i could feel the slight miss, im not to worried about this for now) PO758-bb2-3 shift solenoid valve performance probable cause(s) solenoid failure open or short condition *repair other codes first(this was noted on print out) i am going to go on a lil fishing trip so i can get some more miles on it today and i will stop on my way home and have the codes read again and i will post them as soon as i get back(7 or 8 tonight) thanks

fuse is not blown and i have voltage at fuse...so that meens the ignition switch is working correctly? because i would asume i wouldnt have voltage on fuse if it was faulty... does any one have a diagram or something of where i need to check for proper voltage going into tranny(plug/pin)

It sounds to me like your trans in the limp home mode. Also check and make sure the plug is still plugged in to the trans. I have similar problems and in researching on the net i found that unplugging the electrical connector makes the tranny start in 3rd with manual shifting possible to second gear. No 1st and 4th. My trans starts in 2nd and wont shift out of 2nd no matter what i put in. But after finding out about the limp home mode i unplugged the tranny electrical connector and it does the same as yours. I too would like to see a wiring diagram for the tranny and maybe on the truck side too.

well i took it back to have the codes read and i am still getting the same codes. how do i check for voltage at the solenoid?..just remove the connector and test for 12v with the key in the on position after having the battery disconnected for a while to reset ecu? also does anyone have a diagram or good explanation of what solenoid is which?
