Is it possible/safe/smart to swap a catalytic converter from another car to a different car?

well, im gonna buy a 1990 buick regal, and it needs a new cat, so i figured the cheapest way is to buy a used one from another car and weld it on to the buick

how many miles are on the cat though, may go out just as fast the one that needs replaced.

True that I bought a Magnaflow Cat for our MPV on craigslist.org for $45.00 dollars shipped brand new too.

I have no idea, I havent bought the car yet, I'm just weighing my options to see if its worth getting. The transmission is apparentley slipping really bad, but I figured its just bad fluid. No way of telling until i get there check it out my self, that and it needs a new cat. All this for $150.

For $150, I'd say do it. You can sell of parts & get the rest back in scrap & double your money if you had to. Or you could fix what's wrong & probably make a profit if you sold it.
