Colorado/Canyon 4 cylinder/5 cylinder

Anyone drive a 4 cylinder? What's your impressions?

There is little difference in GM stated gas mileage.

Do you have 2WD or 4WD?

Has anyone purchased a 4 cylinder with 4WD?

theyre both ok at best, a little lacking in the fuel economy dept. and they are known to develope a idle misfire and need the head replaced. theres an extended coverage on them for that though.

My daily driver, 40 miles a day, is a 2005 Colorado 4 cylinder, auto, 2WD Work Truck.
Gets decent gas mileage ave 23 mpg.

People that borrow it can't believe that there's only a 4 banger, I guess I'm just used to it.

The only issue I have with it is the Theft Prevention Ignition Key, if you jump in and fire it up it tends to see you as a thief and engage the Anti Start which takes exactly 10 minutes to re-set, once you remove the key. If you start it like a diesel, insert key, and turn it to the 1st position and let the gages and dummy lights do a 20 second test, it will fire right up. 2 Chevy dealers have looked at it, and don't know how to fix it :-( I had a new key cut @ the dealer the day I bought it.

Anybody know how to turn off or reset the oil change dummy light?

I use Mobil1 extended performance oil and change it every 12 to 15 K miles or every 12 months whichever comes 1st, I do change the oil filter every 6 months.

I'd buy another Colorado, next time I'm going for a bigger motor ;-)

If you have a DIC, follow the instructions in your owners manual. If not, key in, ignition on, engine off, press the gas pedal down three times.

Thanks for the response! I reposted that question and to be honest, it sounded like one of the things that we Army Sergeants (I'm retired with 21 years on Active Duty) had our new Privates do,

Hey Private, come here and give me a hand!
The Motor Sergeant wants us to do an exhaust sample on our Bradley.
I need you to hold this sample bag ( 55 gallon clear plastic bag) and capture the exhaust when I rev it up, OK?

But, the trick worked like a charm, no more dummy message!

Gotta love the exhaust sample bit. While Private is back there, ask him if he hears any screeching from the muffler bearings, may be time for a lube or replacement. Sounds like one of those "break in" deals of the new guy. Back in the day at the pizza place, we'd send the new guy next door to the Sonic and ask to borrow their oven jack since ours was broke, or a squeegie sharpner if he did not get the floors dry after a hot scrub. You'd be suprised, 9 of 10 fell for it.

Yes, I already miss those days...

My gunner was doing his PMCS (Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services) on his gun ( Bradley IFV 25mm bushmaster cannon) and had a new private jump in the turret. The gunner jumped out and told the Private to sling the turret exactly 43 times @ full speed Clockwise, and he would count the # of seconds that it took and compare it to the chart in the Technical Manual.

That poor private was so dizzy after 30 revolutions he stopped, got out of the hatch and lost his lunch. My gunner ended up taking the Bradley down to the washrack and cleaned out the mess. Those were fun times...
