| I had a new thought today as I was letting pressure out of the line leading to the left front brake from the ABS unit: was there still pressure in the line leading to the right front brake? I undid the bolt and sure enough, there was the same amount of pressure that had been in the left one.
This led me to think that, when Midas swapped the custom rubber hose for the braided steel one between the proportioning valve and ABS, in doing so they let pressure out of both left and right front brakes. Which made me think, this isn't the custom rubber line at all--it's the master cylinder.
I'm still going to replace the custom rubber line so it's back to what the manufacturer had in there, but I bet with all these comments and feedback on here and mechanics with private shops around town, I got a P.O.S. master cylinder from AutoZone.
Good thing I kept the receipt--they'll be taking it back when after I install the one I get from NAPA. |
