| Hello All, I just joined the forum, and also this past week sold my '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 L V-8, it had less than 90K miles on it. With the $3500. I sold it for, I bought a '94 Chevy Suburban, that was listed in last Sundays news paper, by a private owner, I offered $3200. and he said he could only go as low as $3500. and I said "It's a deal" and payed him in cash. The 6.5 L engine runs real good for having 170K miles on the odometer, the tranny (T40R ?) in drive during acceleration hesitates slightly before it shifts into next gear. I'm not too worried about, the local Tranco shop, will have that fixed pronto. I wanted a larger and stronger, SUV for hunting (off road) and fishing (boat ramps) trips. And for pulling a toy hauler trailer to motorcycle rallys, (from Wash. to AZ. Bullhead City, RiverRunRally each April) !! Would anyone know what is causing a thumping sound during start-up, and after shut-down of the engine, the sound is coming from the heater area under the dash on the passenger side, I think it's a damper door, or diaphragm in the A/C heater unit, not holding a vacuum, (hose leak or weak Vacuum motor ??) The duration of the sound is about three minutes each time. (My '79 Caddy Eldorado V-8, does the same but only when starting the engine, from the same area.) Also, would anyone know of some good web links, Diesel/Suburban 4x4, aftermarket goodies, and parts, and can post same? Thanks ! Ski |

| Welcome to the forum Ski! Just a couple of things I'd like to make you aware of about that motor... They are notorious for poor cooling (pump is undersized - fixed in '99) and they tend to "eat" harmonic balancers. I found this all out when I was thinking about buying my '99 GMC, also with the 6.5L TD, so wanted to give you a heads up so you can keep an eye on those.
