| Vacuum Modulator Yep, Mud is right. T400 and T350 and so many other transmissions, use a Vac Modulator in conjunction with the governor and/or TV (Throttle Valve) or Detent Cable basically same as TV to measure throttle pressure, to decide shift points in the auto trans. Aha, learned something new didn't you. And you always thought that was called a kickdown cable. Not so. It does also do that on some transmissions, but its main purpose is to tell the transmission how hard you are on the throttle. If you are full throttle of course, its going to let the motor wind up a bit before it allows a shift into the next gear.

| I just got back home. Look what I got boys and girls. $50 + $13 in gas, and $6.50 in toll charges. Took the Yota Rolla so it was a quick cheap drive. I played with, it seems to shift OK, all the inputs and outputs engaged like they should and are tighter than a .... uh nevermind, it seemed real tight, no signs of previous leaking and fairly clean compared to others I seen in CL for more money, like $100 -$200. The other one about 40 miles from here for $100 also did not come with an adapter, this one has the T350/700r4 adapter included.

| Yep, and on a 700r4/4L60 you don't hook that cable up and adjust it properly, you burn up your transmisison. Turbo 350 is not as critical. It just won't work as good, but it will not cook your trans. On the 700r4/4L60, as you inscrease throttle pressure, it increases pump pressure too. So without the trans knowing to increase the pump pressure, your clutches will slip and cook becasue there is not enough pump pressure to compress the apply piston to hold the clutches tighter to the pressure plate of the drums.

| My plans may have changed from the 700r4 to the Turbo 350. I pulled my only 700r4 out. I thought I had more, but the other 3 are 4L60-E's. The 700r4 I have is an 84 model out of a Firebird 305. Pre 89 are the worst of the 700r4 with weaker input shafts, weaker vane pumps etc. It appears I will just go with a much stronger T350. I have plenty of those too, and not really in need of OD with 3.08 differential gears. The T350 will be cheaper to build too. Amazing how quickly plans can change.

| I guess I missed your thread CRMZ. Yes, I am happy I got one at a good price too. I really wanted a NP205, but this is temporary thing hopefully, so I did not want to spend alot on it. I did not have this to spend anyway. I guess I may sell my dogs to make up for it. hahaha, NOT !!! I will make it up somewhere. I have some parts here I will be lising on CL soon. Eventually I hope to have the 1 ton axles, NP205 and either SM465, NV4500 would be the ultimate choice, or Turbo 400. Its just a toy, not a nessecity, so putting it back together stock for now will be OK. I want to get it running and see how much trouble I will have with this KS title and out of date by 2 years. I have a feeling it will be no big deal and I won't have to pay the penalties since its from out of state. May be a good thing.

| I'd probably sell them before I sold my dogs, but NO Thanks, they are pretty special to me too. They don't make them like that anymore. Especially since I did the snip, snip and broke the baby maker.
