| Wow, I need to change my ID on here. Gonna make another post to myself here. I jacked it up and did the rear end count for gear ratio. As usual for me, I got wussy gears again. 3.08 and I believe peg legger. No telling if its a G80 without pulling the cover since even then both wheels spin opposite. Yoke turned 1 and a half plus a hair to 1 full tire rotation, so that tells me its 3.08 gear. Also has the OD in the shift indicator, so that pretty much tells me it was a wuss truck from the factory. 6.2 Diesel, 700r4, and 3.08 gear ratio. Its OK though. I got a fo buh fo now with a good clean title, so I can make it whatever I want now. Being its a 6 lugger, I may put that light duty 3/4 ton 4.10 gear rear end in it and get some 6 lug axles for it, then have the front diff regeared or find another one. I am not real sure what the best for strength is for a front diff. Maybe someone can give me some info on that.

| I have never seen this before. Maybe one of you youngsters will know what it is. I am going to take a wild guess and say rifle rack?

| Here is a pic of the front axle. I think I have figured out its a GM 10 Bolt. Anyone know if these are any good, or should I be looking for a Dana 44? I have heard some not so good things about Dana 44 being weak, but for what I intend to do, it may be strong enough. How does this GM 10 bolt rate in comparison to the Dana 44? What are other options without going custom made. I mean as in finding one and bolting it in. What did 3/4 use for front axle, and is it possible I could use a 3/4 front axle and get 6 lug axles like I may do in the rear end. I acutally prefer a 3.73 or 3.54 gear, but assuming that is going to be harder to find, and 4.10 should be easier, then I'll go 4.10 and just go taller tire when these need replaced. If you have not figured out yet, I do know much about these differntial straight axle 4x4's. My other 4x4's were always transaxle.

| 200 bucks? That's a steal! as far as the front end goes it looks like a 10 bolt. If you need to change it out or not depends on tire/lift size and HP.

| If thats what it is, I am going to like that. I never did like those window type rifle racks. I like concealed but not concealed. I'd say thats a legal carry if it unloaded. Still visible but not to just everyone as you are crusing down the road. I think I am going to like this truck, but I am going to get an education with it. I already know I want to get rid of the auto hubs and get part times. Money Money Money.

| no they have been using auto hubs for several years... Chevy was big into them with the 203 transfer cases because they were a full time 4 wheel drive so you never had to worry about getting out in the mud to lock the hubs. Almost all new vehicles still run an auto hub or something similar. I know ford uses an auto hub with the ability to manually lock them.

| Whew !!! Thanks for rescuing me on that one John. I thought I used wrong terminology or didn't know what I was talking about. I had always heard them called auto locking hubs or full time hubs. It seems to me that most of the heavy duty 4x4'ers like the manual or part time hubs better. If I go with a NP205 and Turbo400 in this project, is it true, I will also want Part time hubs? Do I even have a choice with that Xfer case??
