Get a GM 14 bolt for the rear. You got a Dana 60 for the front?

They got the lock hubs on the hub itself? I'd imagine it does.

I hate automatic locking hubs (where you don't have to get out). It's ok but if one side gets stuck the other wheel will keep turning. They ain't got pulling power like manual hubs.

Go on Pirate 4x4. They are good with the transfer case deal.

I have either of the GM 14bolt corporate rear ends. I have a 9.5 and I have a 10.5, both are open diff with 4.10's. No, this truck has a 10 bolt GM in the front. I am thinking of going with the GM 14 bolt 9.5 Semi Float axles in the rear since there are factory 6 lug axles available for it, and I will go ahead and use the leaf springs and hangers off that truck too, so it will have 3/4 ton springs and light duty 3/4 rear end. The see if I can't find Dana 44 with 4.10's and 6 lug axles and 3/4 front springs.

Good. Do that.

Do I even have a choice with that Xfer case??
to my knowledge you can still use auto hubs with a 205 transfer case, the only deal is that you are more likely to have the resistance of the front axles spinning when the x-fer case is in 2 Hi. You can pick up manual hubs pretty cheap online.

If I can run across a Dana 60 for a decent price I have a Dana 44 6 lug that is already set up with 4.10 that we might be able to deal on.

Yes, I think I am going to prefer manual part time hubs. I just think it will give me more control over what I want to do.

Now why you go teasing me like that MrJW? Proabably just because you can. Next you will be telling me you have the 6 lug axles and drums for my 9.5 rear end too. Its currently set up with 8 lugs that came out of a 84 Scottsdale C20. Have I ever told you, that you are my favorite Moderator???

"""Hmmm, wondering if that's laying it on thick enough"""

And to add insult, I bet that Dana 44 has manual hubs already too.

People say if you run big tires, you need to swap to Dana 60s.

Manuals are good man. Though if you get them in a bind it will snap em and it will cost a good bit but they have alot of power better than automatic hubs.

I understand that. You need the axle strength with bigger tires. I am not building a monster truck. The truck has 31/10.50's on it now, and I'd have to say the very biggest I'd ever consider using would probably be 35/12.50's. I am not so sure that is considered a BIG tire. I am thinking they are reffering biggo 38 and above Super Swampers and such before you need to go D60 or better. I will probably just run All-Terrain Raidals which normally are not a very aggresive tread pattern either. But, by all means, If am not thinking right, do let me know. I'll say again, I am new to this straigth axles Fo buh Fo stuff. My other 4x4's were transfer case push button wussy trucks and they had the stock factory tires sizes too.

Just keep in mind, I don't want a wussy wagon, but I don't intend to be jumping school busses either and I have a budget to contend with. In fact I am working on that budget right now. I just told MrJW he is my favorite Moderator, so I am wondering what that will get me. Maybe a Dana 44 with 4.10's and manual part time hubs. He's also such a nice guy, I bet he delivers it on my doorstep all the way from TX to OKC.
