Rollers were used in Camaros and Firebirds, and different engines too, they used LT-1's by then. The trucks got the old school treatment.
Good cam is dual pattern
Lifts 420/443 ( int/exh)
Durration at 50 Deg 204/214
110 centerline
To "lump it up" a bit add a little more durration. Even with vortec heads I wouldnt mess with lift too much or your in for some computer idle speed, timing possible problems
just my 2 cents .. Bruce

What is the truck going to be primarily used for?Tow/haul,race,daily driver. With a 3/4 ton I would think tourqe would me more desirable than hp.There are plenty of cams for tbi motors.Flat tappet and roller.Call comp or whoever and tell them what you`re trying to do.They make an aftermarket tbi base for vortech heads but it doesnt really flow any better than the stock intake,it just bolts to the vortech heads. You can run an intake for a carb with an adapter plate and you`d have to change thethrottle linkage up a little IIRC.You can get a carb intake that accepts EGR.The tbi is a good fuel delivery system, its cheap, you already have it and will last for ******** ever.Brian@ tbi chips is pretty good with the tuning as well as pcmsforless.Neither one is expensive and they can tune to pretty much whatever lift cam you like.Stock vortech max lift is approx. .480.I have seen guys who couldnt go with more lift than that wthout doing some work to the heads.May need to do some work for the 1.6 roler rockers as well. You can learn alot about how to mod your tbi unit at thirdgen.org under the tbi board and read the ultimate tbi mods in the stickies. The set up on those cars is slightly differant than your truck but the basics are the same.Electric fan swap is easy and worth it IMO.
