| clutch in a 2000 1500 4x4 I'm trying to put a new clutch and slave cylinder in a 2000 silverado 4x4 with 4.8l 5-speed. Do I need to take the transfer case off or can i slide the trans back enough without removing everything. right now i have all bellhousing bolts out and all linkage and wires disconnected and driveshafts out. i removed the trans mount but not the crossmember. I'm trying to slide the trans and transfer case back a a unit but it doesn't seem to want to come loose from the engine. or should i try to unbolt the trans from the bellhousing leaving the bell attached to the engine like in an older model. any help is appreciated. I need to get it running so i can go to work. |

| You will need to remove the transfer case from the transmission, then remove the transmission all together to do the slave cyl. There isn't enough room to do it right otherwise. |
