| 4l60e dumping fluid alright, so i own a 1994 k1500 5.0 4l60e 4wd pickup. 2 years ago the trans was rebuilt by ammco, it ran great until now. on a long drive home from the shore, maybe 50 miles into it, the truck started slipping real bad to where i could only cruise at 25mph, so only had 1st and 2nd. i was able to make it to a friends house where i parked it and noticed a lil fluid flowing out the vent tube on top. i let it sit 3 hours to cool down, topped it off in fluid and drove off. truck shifted fine from this point on and didnt have a problem for 25 miles. at this point i had lost all gears and it seemed the trans had flushed the entire system out of the vent tube onto the road. i examined the fluid and it was clean, no particles at all and still bright red. the furthest i went with trying to repair before i got pissed and bought a new truck was dropping the pan to maybe see some debree inside however there was none and was clean. i buttoned her back up, refilled the trans, let it run in nuetral, and once she came up to temp she dumped the fluid again. now that im looking to get rid of her im hoping that someone has run into a problem like this and knows a fix. there is no trans cooler so thats not the prob. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks |

| front pump seals toast. My father had his 1500 tranny rebuilt by them 4 times while he owned it and i swear they just put in **** seals and the basics and send it with worn parts so it comes back. Mine, however, is a 2500 and has a big tranny cooler. Mine never gets as hot as his, and has been rebuilt at a dealer once and it was just starting to slip at 155K. Im at 205 now and all is well. So I would put a 170 Thermostat in truck since it controls tranny temp, and get a tranny cooler on it as soon as its fixed. I would hope they replace worn parts, but the trannys will run a year with just new seals, many will anyway, and of course they grab 3 GRAND for the rebuild and swap on a 4X4 |

| the engine may not like the 170, since it is not midified, the best way to cool the tranny is with the cooler
