yes, that is what i was talking about initially. maybe just put that in the wrong terms, i apologize. since he has power at the + side of the coil, the cap, rotor, and button are new, that would leave the pickup coil and wireset left to be possibles.

where under the rotor?I did not see a pickup under the rotor but I wasn't looking for one either.

found it in a diagram on autozone.com .Looks like you have to pull the distributor to get to it.I'll pull the distributor and put one in and will post the results.

pickup coil. should be in the dizzy cap where those wires go into the side of the dizzy itself. basically, they break the ground and that is what discharges the coil. without it, the charge will never cut loose.

all you have to do is ohm it, both sides should show infinite, if not it is defective

no spark

that was the problem,the pickup coil.The distributor must be removed to replace.A rebuilt dizzy comes with new control module and new pickup coil for $99 which was the way I went(module was $44 and pickup coil $14 so another $30 rebuilt dizzy.My dizzy was rusty looking anyway.Thanks for all the help!
