Trans & t Case

Hello all i'm a newbie to the truck world and need some help on trans a t case I just got my hands on a 85 chevy SWB 4x4 and it needs a trans and t case the truck cam with a 700R4 would a t case from a 350 or 400 bolt up to the 700R4? also if I left the truck 6 inchs will I need to lengthen the drive line? Also need to know if the truck came with a smog pump or not how would i find out?

First off, Im assuming that you mean a th350 or th400. I have seen adapters for almost anything from Advance Adapters. As far as a strate up np203/np205 bolt on, i dont (think) so...I do know that the np208 was bolted onto the 700r4 in 4wds. If I was you, I wouldnt even try to find an np203 (full-time transfer case). The np205 is a selectable and is said to be "bullet proof", try to find that. The np208 is also selectable but not as strong. With only 6 inches of lift you wont have to lengthen anything. You can also find out about the smog pump by just going to the local parts store and they can tell you.
