 |  Just Wondering  I drive an 89' silverado with a V8 and when i drive it long distances my engine light comes on but when i get to where im going and shut it down and start it back up it clears. Anyone else have this problem im wondering if its the N.O.S. sensors |

| My guess would be the EGR valve is not opening. But as Brad says pull the codes. |

| yes it is. just take it buy an autozone they will check it for you for free. which according to my search the closest one to you is in Norman on W main. Unless you know someone who has a code reader

| It's an 89, so it's OBD-I Just use a paperclip.
__________________ If the guys who design 'em had to take one home, use it every day for 2 years, and do all the maint and repairs themselves, cars would have a button on the dash to change the oil, filters & plugs. |

| OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics
