98 Chevy 1500 won't start

Hello, i am new here. and i need some ones help. i recenty just replaced my fuel pump, filter, new gas tank. because i was having problems before. it lasted untill i drove my truck to a buddies becuase i was leaking transmission fluid. we changed the seal. and my truck wont start now. A few times i held the brake and put it in drive then back to park, and it wanted to start but didn't fully. i was wondering if theres a censor or something in the transmission that would prevent it from starting.

it's a 5.7 350 98 chevy 1500.

any ideas?

thank you.

Sounds like your Park-Neutral Safety switch is misadjusted.

Its function is to prevent the engine from being started in gear. It only allows it to start in park or neutral.

Before you put the new one on, try just adjusting the old one. See the elongated slot in the photo? That allows you to adjust the position of the switch in relation to the gearshift linkage. While changing the seal the switch probably got bumped and knocked out of adjustment.
