I figure that outside of the truck for looks was more important then the inside in the fact that I would think I could do cheaper mods on the interior(whether the '03 or design of my own) than exterior. Im GUESSING on that line of thinking though.

Based on what people talk about on here and elsewhere you're point is not lost on me. I can apprecite people with 4X4s going out and having fun in them (that's ALOT of the reason for owning one) but for me right now I will be almost a "fake" 4X4 owner. In the fact that at my age fun gives way to responsibility.

I know I'm taking on a financial risk as it is with not only owning a 4X4 but one with these mods.

I feel if I decide to go muddin' etc on weekends I better have $5,000-$10,000 set aside for any and all "what ifs". THAT will be AWAYS down the road for my wallet!!!!

Having a reliable vehicle with alot of the bugs worked out comes first and play comes later. I HATE BEING A GROWN UP!!!!!!

Well I was hoping for some more guesses before posting the price. The cost is $9,000.

I feel that with the mods, condition and up keep and work done this is a good deal.

’98-‘99s with 6” suspension and 3” body are going for around $8 grand some work done as far as parts replaced etc.

2000-‘02’s 4x4 stock are running between $7,500 -$10 thousand.(this includes a few that weren't extended cab)

One ’02 with a cheap block lift and tranny without 3rd and 4th is $5,000.

No way of knowing what else is wrong when you can’t hit highway speed.

As I said the closest to this truck had a 6” plus 3” lift Custom paint job, bull bar and a speedometer that didn’t work for $12,500.(sold in less than 8 days I think)

I feel I am getting a good deal and while that’s all that is important in the long run I was/am curious as to what trucks like this are going for in different regions.

I also feel that with him holding it for 30 days it would be disrespectful to try to get him to go down much if any in price.

I have seen more modded trucks here than in any other part of Florida and the US I have lived or visited so maybe the demand for such is why it’s so hard to jump on a deal with good timing.

Thank you who had time to respond.

It always helps to get other's POVs as when you are gaga over something you don't always see the big pic!

newjack42 is on a distinguished road
i would not even bother screwin with the front end unless its converted to soild front axle. My buddy has a 04 with 6 inch lift and 35's. Every time he even thinks about 4x4 its brakes something. the independent frount sus. on the half ton cant handle added stress. He does drive the **** out of the truck tho. but if you thinking about any off roadin at all be ware

It's a nice truck I wouldn't use it in 4x4 until the gears up front match. Plus remember them tires don't last long on the highway plus how long is it going to take you to get the rear tires that's a lot of coins. Getting a vehicle is just like getting married it's always going to be asking you for stuff. Remember the good old days where all we had to worry about is going to school maybe a bike tube for the sling shot.

Point taken. I have no imediate thought on muddin' or anything until the truck has a chance to earn me money. The current owner took it out and played for a while early on when he first lifted it and had no probs. but that's him not me.

As far as affording an axel swap that's A WAYS down the road also but again POINT WELL TAKEN!

Yeah like I said before and above "playing" is on the back burner. Even with the weather around here I see no immediate use for the 4 wheel being use. The clearance alone will get me through any "deep" water on roads.(and I'm not going out of my way to find them just if I have to go down a side street or something)

As far as these tires I thought those were designed more for highway use than off road. They ride smooth down the raod and don't have knobbies. If you have a better suggestion I'M ALL EARS!!! If I can find an economical tire in that size designed for moderate off road and primarily highway(good water tread) I'll go that way on the rear and replace front as needed.

Yeah the bike days are LONG gone! but even though it took (AHEM) a "few years" I have learned to prioritize when looking at vehicles. My GF(knowing me ALL TO WELL) asked so how was the stereo system? I said believe it or not I think it's stock. I didn't even turn it on.

I also know that buying parts for show or fun are WAY behind ones needed. Some people don't understand it DOESN'T matter how nice it looks if it can't leave the driveway.

Thank you both for your imput.

OK let me add a small update. If all goes as planned the truck will be in my driveway by next weekend.

Also I mis understood the timeline on mods to the truck. He DID NOT go muddin' AFTER the rearend gears were done. When we talked about the truck the conversation kinda mashed all together. Between e-mails and phone convos. So I know it didn't make sense to all of you (or me) and wanted to re state so Ya'll didn't think he was a moran.(just me for relaying the info wrong)

He also has a nice '74 (I think) Chevy PU should anyone be interested.
