| right thats kind what i was thinking but why would it have a block heater plug on it? the third one must also be the block heater plug that went to the engine as it is tied into the plug. AS for the other two that is the connector that is unhooked it is right by the intake tube but my air temp sensor it plugged in and there aren't any more plugs in the area near as i can tell i'll try to photo sop those two to make them larger. |

| Well, why wouldn't your truck have a block heater? Michigan winters can get pretty cold, and a block heater is something I'd consider for that climate. Also, block heaters were included as part of certain "packages", no matter where the truck was sold. For example, both of our trucks have block heaters. My g/f's Dakota has one because she specified it when she bought the truck. It was purchased in Sacramento, but she lived in northern Idaho at the time, and had just spent two years at the University of Alaska. My GMC also has one, but it's from Florida, purchased in Ft. Lauderdale on a government contract, and was never out of the state until I bought it. And being a gas engine doesn't really matter. Yes, diesels need a block heater more than a gas engine does, but when temps get down to single digits or below a block heater helps quite a bit with starting and getting things up to operating temp faster.

| If I had to make a guess, and a guess is all it is, I'd say it looks like the connection to your under hood light. Most people disconnect those because the switch that turns them on can get out of adjustment, keeping the light on all the time and resulting in a dead battery.

| Na it ain't that it's to short to reach and mines plugged in it ties into the harness where the map sensor and air temp sensor comes out and that where i lost it i looks like it would go somewhere around the air temp sensor or maybe it might reach to the manifold but i can't see and connectors that it could reach I'm starting to think that maybe just maybe it too is also something for the non existence block heater but it would be nice to know exactly what it is i don't really like finding unplugged connectors and not knowing what their for, something I'm sure everybody here can agree with |

Didn't you say the engine had been swapped on the truck? Possibly it was for something that was on the old engine that isn't on the new one. One way to figure it out would be to check the color codes on the wires then compare it to a wiring schematic for the truck.
