| i have a 1997 silverado 1500 2wd with a 5.7 vortec with 135,000. Recently i have been hearing a "clunking" noise coming from the rear end right before i come to a stop at about 10-15 mph. I do not feel the clunk i only hear it. The truck shifts fine and stops fine. i have installed new U-joints, the carrier bearing looks good and i have redone the front and rear brakes. Nothing in the rear end seams to be loose suspension wise. I have checked the rear diff fluid it is full. the guy i work with says what i am hearing is gear lash......anyone have any suggestions the noise is going to drive me crazy. |

| Try greasing the splines on your drive shaft yolk, GM had a TSB out on that problem
