Angry stupid POS truck

So I replace the water pump. Hose breaks change the hose since it was leaking still. Now it's STILL leaking and I can't see from where. The only left place is the gaskets, but holy **** I dont wanna take thiss thing apart for the 3rd time. I put RTV sealent on the water pump itself. I also RTV sealed the side of the gasket that touches the engine block. And I smeared it with my fingers. and I torqued it to 30 ft lbs like the d*** book said. And once again my coolant mysteriously dissapears from my resoivor, and radiator.

Yesterday at work I set white cardboard under it since im ******** to the point of paranoia about it leaking. I got 2 drips on the cardboard and a little damp spot a little bigger than a quarter i front of the cardboard. Looked inside and found no sign of dampness anywhere on the waterpump. Took it home put a piece of plastic under the truck again and got a drop within an hour of being home. Yet I cant find where its dripping from.

use a tester to pressurize it when it is cold

you talking about the weep hole on the pump? would it come out of there if running normal? I thought the weep hole is to indicate when the seal is no longer able to do its job.

Was it a new pump or a rebuild? I've seen a lot of really bad rebuilds and would never use one myself, only new.

Well, if it's new with a warranty, grab a pressure tester, pump the system up and see where it leaks. If it's coming out the weep hole you might want to wait a week or so. Sometimes those seals need a little time to wear in and seal properly.

I would agree presure test it and see. I also agree could be a core plug that is leaking when the engine is hot and the metal expans then as it cools it sort of reseals its self if you will. but only way to really know is pressure test.
