Chrome front bumper for 94 K2500

Now that this thing runs sweet the corrosion starting to show on the front bumper is going to become intolerable. I'm an engine/mechanical guy not a body & trim guy so pardon the dumb questions.
Does it make any sense to try and restore the original? Replate?
Looks like JCWhitney sells replacements in the $180 - $300 range but I've had fit issues from them on stuff in the past (never bought a bumper however).
Other sources people have had success with?
Kinda like the chrome on an old truck so really don't want to do a paintover, etc.
Thoughts?

. if you wanted to you could sandblast it. if it has license plate holes on the front what you do is you drill a screw into it from the back and you cut it off from the front so its flush. putty and paint :-)

you can get primered smoothies for like 90 bucks. or try a junk yard. ive seen some nice ones. the chrome ones will run more though.

Have you checked to see if you have any local shops that could replate it for you?

No on the local replate issue. My guess is it would cost me more than $300 which is what a JCW replacement goes for. If I'm wrong in this guess please correct me. That's after I deliver it at bare metal which means a lot of black beauty blasting on the backyard - more cost.
Not a lot of small-job plating shops left in NH/NE. EPA killed'm.
