| 98 k1500 won't start NEED HELP!!! Hi All, I'm new to the forum, so bare with me if I do something wrong. Here's the problem. I have a 98 1/2ton with 4.3L V6. 4 days ago the truck ran great no issues. Yesterday, I went to start the truck and no go. The motor cranks, batteries (2) are new and charged, just replaced the cap and rotor, verified good spark at cylinders 1, 3 and 5, just changed the fuel filter, verified good operation of the fuel pump, verified good fuel pressure, verifed injector assembly is working. I've gone so far as to put gas down the throttle body, still no go. Not even an attempt to go, you know cough cough sputter sputter. I'm at a loss |

| Have you tested the ICM? and i don't think the truck would have run with the intake tube off cause the ecm wasn't getting the right signal from the mass airflow sen. also i'd check the mass air flow for debris some times it get stuff stuck on it and that'll cause a no go and welcome |

| ICM appear to be working, there is good spark at cylinders 1, 3, 5. MAF I will check in the morning. Any other thoughts??? |

| How did you verify that the fuel injectors are working and how did you verify fuel pressure. did you use a Fuel pressure gauge? This is a vortec engine right? So it has a fuel rail right?

| one other question does the truck have a after market alarm? also the ignition switch in the cab may be bad it's kinda a bear to get to as it's in the steering column i think do you have any blow fuses in the under hood fuse block? If it is vortec it has CSFI 'six individual injectors located under the intake' the assembly kinda looks like a spider |

| fuel pressure was tested with a fuel pressure gauge. The injector assemble is a fuel meter body (central SFI). I have a Haynes repair manual. I followed the steps to test electrically the operation of the SFI |

| The only after marke equipement is a 2way radio. Why do you say the key switch? There appears to be power to the whole truck when cranking |

| I did check the fuses (all inside and out) and replaced one 30A fuse for AUX B |

| Yes it will have power but the ecm receives a signal from the switch letting it know that the proper key is in the ignition and will allow the truck to start and run. the switch just wears out over time |

| I didn't know 98 trucks cared what key was in it. I was using the orig. Should I try a different key, or are you saying I may need a new switch |
